Kinda miss playing in it like Maximum up in NH, but not enuff to move back that way. Don't even know how the classic and its ve would work. Weight ain't it, fellas and gals. Absolutely hands down best snow car I ever owned was a 1275 Mini. Including on ice. Except for the SU's that would freeze up. Best run was on I-70 thru Kansas with a 30 knot crosswind on packed/frozen snow - just tack the car just like an airplane, could run 60 no sweat at about a 20 degree angle to the road.

Weight distribution is probably more important than total weight.
I have a cf hood, 11 lb battery, no a/c, 9 lb. flywheel - so I took
a decent amount of weight off of the front tires.

Not every 'all season' tire is created equally.
Nokian makes an all-season radial, the WR, that also has an 'Extreme service' rating, for winter snow/ice conditions. They call it an 'all weather plus' tires. They still have a 400
treadwear rating for tread life life.
Nokian tires are expensive though - but well worth it for me so far.

I have not tried lower cost snow tires yet, so I can't really compare, but I really love
these in rain, snow & ice.
Straight line dry traction is really good - better than my Kuhmo 711 summer tires - seriously. These give up cornering performance, obviously, but they are a very
comfortable and quiet ride.

Check out their website www.nokiantyres.com - look at how many different versions of snow tires and all season radials they have. They really know snow/ice tires.
Here's their winter test facility near the arctic circle:

Dunno, that SR sounds pretty sweet sucking in 30-40 degree air on a cold morning when the roads are dry. I really notice the difference with my VQ, the G has a true 100% CAI with a popcharger and K&N huge cone, it loves the cool weather

Yesterday, it was around -10 degrees Farenheit here (I even converted C to F for you guys). I'm glad I didn't have to take the car out. I go to work by train and I can walk to the station.

Same here, was 0.0 deg F on the outside thermo yesterday when I left the house, but at least my B13 warms up now - I found that either accidentally or intentionally, the thermostat was stuck in the open position from when it lived in SoCal. I'd warm the car up, drive for a few miles and watch the temp plummet. Just replaced the tstat and I actually have real heat now

The thermometer read -27 degrees C when I left home yesterday morning (at 5:30 AM).
