I don't wanna sound like one of those cheap FWD SR20 guys but you'd think for the asking price of $450-600 they could make it go all the way to the cat flange.

I would consider trying it if it did go to the cat flange.
How much interest is there really now for a VE header? Not to jack the thread, but if there was enough dedicated folks to actually buy them I could talk to my fab shop and talk about making one. It would be fabbed and tested in house. We do have a dyno in our facility as well as a VE swapped B13.

if you look at the jmr header thread....8600 looks, 100+posts, a year of bumping. everyone is waiting for the next "best" thing. i'd settle for an asp/kojima signature/burns copy.
