Its not BAD. But it is a problem. Is this a new swap? Sounds just like the problem I had with my sway. I found two connectors that were not plugged in. Mine is a p11, so I dont know if your engine bay harness is the same setup. You can find the pinout here, How to correctly use a 94-97 B14 ECU in a 99 P11. Check you the continuity between the ecu and the sensor wire, I believe it is green w/yellow stripe. If there is no continuity, then you have a harness plug undone. If you do have continuity, try a new sensor. If neither work. Make sure you pull the codes off the ecu and compare them to the OBD I, or OBD II charts.

This is on a b13 nx2000. I know the previous owners spliced in the coolant sensor into the harness for some reason. Ill make sure I hooked the wires back up to where they should go as well.

Gotcha. This is what you need then. SR20 Forum Media Gallery - B13/RNN14 ECU-Pin-out . Best of luck.

What is the purpose of the sensor next to the coolant(red plug) and what would be called on the pin out?

The smaller sensor is called the temp sender switch or some crap like that. Basically gives signal to the temp gauge.

It got the fans to not run all time. Now I need to make sure they are going to come on by themselves. When I hit the ac button they both come on.

Everything is golden! The coolant sensor was cut and spliced into the harness so I had to solder the blue orange wire but I miss the ground wire. Soldered that bish up and drove the car to get hot. Fans were spinning away.
