Pre-swap VVL question....
Greetings everyone! I have a '99 SE-L that I will be doing a VVL swap on next week. I have been doing a lot of research lately but haven't found the answer to this question/concern.

I know that the IACV-air regulator that is on my car is not used on the VVL motor. This is used to give the engine a 'fast idle' when the car is cold. How is this accomplished now with the VVL motor? I would assume that the VE ecu can compensate for this, but how is this accomplished using the DE ecu or a tuned ecu?

Any other advise or things to look out for is also appreciated

Thanks in advance!

The ve is able to get fast idle when the engine is cold from the throttle body. When the engine is cold, the throttle body is open further than normal by the plunger which has engine coolant flowing through it.

Im sorry but as of my understanding both have iacv.

To be technical, both have the a.a.c and f.i.c.d valve, but the ve doesn't have the air regulator. The air regulator is for a cold running engine.

That brings up another question. Does the VE throttle body accommodate cruise control? I noticed that the VE throttle body has two rollers for two cables - just much closer together when compared to the DE throttle body. The throttle cable bracket that came with the VE only has a spot for one cable though.

I see that some people run the DE throttle body, but then this would get rid of the fast idle plunger thing. How is the cold idle quality with a DE throttle body on a VE motor then?

I thought people used that Q45 throttle body to retain the cruise control?

The cold idle is perfect on mine with the de throttle. As for the cable bracket, you need to get in contact with dmsentra over on g20.net. He makes a nice bracket to keep the cruize.
