help with valve cover swap needed
How the hell do you get the grommet out of the VE valve cover where the PCV goes without tearing it.
I want to swap it onto a new valvecover.

I'd think pulling the PCV valve out first would allow the grommet to be removed pretty easily? I've only ever installed one though, never removed.

haha yeah, thats what I thought, but it seems there is a lip that seals inside,so it doesnt just pull out, unfortunately, and you cant get to the inside due to the oil separator being built in.

I was hoping someone had found an easy way to do it and would share.

I've swapped torn ones between VE and RR valve covers. They use the same grommet. It's been a while but I remember (after removing the PCV valve) just using a flat-head screwdriver and cursing a bit. It comes out easy enough but you have to be careful not to tear it. If I remember correctly, I pryed against the valve cover and slightly collapsed one side of the grommet in towards the centre area. At that point I just wiggled and turned the grommet till it popped off of the hold it has on the inside of the VC. It just takes some patience and a few attempts. I also swapped my grommets with the VC installed on the cylinder head. A little bit of oil helps with re-installing the grommet.
