Pre swap jitters and questions.
Ok I have been browsing and posting from my tablet for the past few days so please don't flame me and tell me to search etc. I will be swapping a SR20VE motor in my 93 SE-R in the next few weeks I have been searching the forums for how to's on this swap and found a few threads but i'm still not 100% sure all whats needed. So far I have the motor, fidanza flywheel and exedy clutch kit, ebay DE header, N60 maf and a vibrant Apexi WS style muffler. I plan to eventually boost it but for now i just want it in and running good so I can daily it for a while and park the Infiniti. What advice can you guys give me so this will be a pain free swap? I remembered reading about the heater core hoses being different but there is one you can buy from autozone etc, also having to cut one of the tabs off the DE dizzy and usind red loctite on the 2 screws on the butterfly, basically I will be doing the swap at my job and don't want to encounter any issues and want the swap done and out of there ASAP. Thanks in advance for answering my questions

Dude it is super easy. especially since you have a ser. just swap it and run it on a de ecu and maf to get it running.

I hear you man but I want it to be 100% operational from the get go with the VVL and all. I have no problem doing the swap I have done a few swaps myself just DE's and DET's though and I helped out a few of my friends throughout the years I have never done a VE swap or seen one done before thats why I'm asking all these questions lol.

alot of this is in the manifesto.

one thing i will suggest, if you haven't already, is nismotronic. it will..

*let you tune it and get your afr's great (they will be rich as)
*swap to hi cams at your set rpm.
*run different injector sizes/afm's etc.

Yeah a lot but not all I have been through that manifesto thoroughly dude. I don't know anything about tuning thats why I want a chipped ECU I had an AEM EMS in my turbo car a while back and messed around with it for a while but thats about it. Now if there was a way to get the nismotronic and then downlad a tuned map for my basic setup and then load it I may go that route.

It appears that you have most of the big stuff already covered but while the VE is out and easy to work on, I would replace the front and rear main seals. You might even want to change the water pump while you're at it. Another forgotten item is the o-ring on the end of the distributor. With a modified bottom leg and only 1 bolt (top bolt) to secure the dizzy, sometimes they leak a wee bit of oil. A new o-ring will help to prevent that.

I am definately doing the front and rear seals, new belts and water pump before I drop it in. Thinking about running the VE dizzy I checked that thread out in the manifesto definately interested in going that route.

I am doing swap in a few weeks as well. I can't wait! You are going to run some sort of solenoid activator like a msd 8969 right?

The only thing I wasn't clear on it either I need to use the VE or DE injectors?

If you are running a DE ECU and DE MAF, use the DE injectors. You can use the VE injectors with the DE ECU/MAF but you will run rich. You can help this out by advancing your mechanical base timing, playing with the fuel pressure (not recommended and very crude way of tuning fuel) or you can tune the fuel with an SAFC or similar. If you are using a tuneable ECU, you can use whatever MAF/Injector combo you want, as you can adjust the tune accordingly.

The safest bet is to always match the ECU/MAF/injectors. DE/DE/DE.

Edit: Always have a wideband sensor intstalled whenever you are swapping engines and things don't match up as they did from the factory. This is the easiest way to know whether or not your are hurting your new engine. It is an inexpensive way to have some peace of mind.

If you have used AEM Tuner or AEMPro software you should be able to use NismoTronic w/o any issues. Address trans issues, axle seals and steering rack bushings, maybe paint the bay.
