Thread: Using an AEM EMS for your VE?

1600 box and it works just fine. There are many outputs to switch your cams over. I absolutely love the AEM EMS.

i love my aem ems too,just make sure you have a really good tuning source for it + a decent ammount of money to actually tune it and tune the different features + the wiring if you cant do it yourself i know most shops around here in ky chrg 500.00 mininum to configure the aem ems and thats just basic ive spent more like a lil over 1k tuning it to run jus right...just pointing that out

I have never taken my daily driver to a dyno shop to setup my AEM EMS. I go by EGT's, AFR and some data logging. It is all up to you how much you want to put into it. Going to a dyno, pick carefully. YOu don't just want to go do a WOT pull for max power and be done. You want to do load based part throttle tuning also.

very true, that is why i said to make sure you get a good tuner, the place where i got my car redone, used a dyno dynamics and did full sweep on the loads, both load based tuning at cruise/part throttle, and wide open, there is definitly a difference between having the car dynod on the mustang dyno and now on the dyno dynamics dyno ,car runs much better...

and you bring up a good point, if your car is a daily river the yeah i would just go in with egt and afr and do changes that way, but if its not a daily and more of a powerhouse/trackcar, then i would defiitly go to the shop have it all configured and tuned to the max efficency, thats exactly why i brought mine to the shop.

If its a full tim race car then yes WOT pulls will work but, for a street car street tuning is a must.


Any type of standalone rocks. AEM is definitely top knotch.

Speak to Bob Homewood in Pukekohe, arguably one of the best tuners in Auckland. He will be able to give you the best advice

Bob ain't that interested anymore, I tried to book the car in for a tune a couple of times last year & he moaned about the Bikirom (though he'd never seen nor heard of it) and was completely non-commital. He just kept trying to sell me a Link Plus without even checking the Bikirom out.

Ive seen a link tune that bob homewood did, he was quite proud of it apparently when the guy picked the car up, unfortunatly it destroyed 3 toyota 3sge engines as it was lean as all ****, and had buckets of midrange timing. Dude took it to Andre at speedtech, and now its all sweet and makes great power. Also, i had a look with my link hand controller, and the numbers jumped all over the place, as he had only tuned a few zones, and the rest he hadnt touched, so the numbers jumped up and down all over the place.

OK, this is only one tune on one car, but it was attrocious (sp?).
