Timing Chain and guides
Hi fellas:
I have a rattle in my VE since a few days, checked everything and the side guides of the timing chain are in pretty bad shape.
My question is If the DE guides, chain and tensioner will work for my VE, here in Chile I can only find the DE timing chain kit.

Greetings!!

chain should be the same length, tensioner should work just the same, guides are different though

Sure about that? Here in Chile have the RR version of the SR20, and in eBay watched a kit with all and says that works with the DE as well.
In other scenario, it will work the chain guides from a SR16VE?? Non N1 off course?

Greetings!

Not sure about the RR version, it may fit. I just know regular de won't fit

Go to post #3 by B15NEOVVL, it shows chain guides and tensioner are interchangeable between DE and VE. Even though it shows the VE chain is exclusive you can still use the DE or RR chain.

The thread is very helpful and should be a sticky and retitled "VE Part Numbers". Just a suggestion for the Moderators.

Interesting, the de guides I had bought definitely were not going to fit my VE, but the spare high port engine I had they fit perfectly

Confirmed that the RR guide part numbers are the same that VE. The chain instead uses a different one.
The question is if the DE chain will work with no issues.

Latest orderable part number for all DE engines for Timing chain tensioner is: 13070-2J203. SR16VE/20VE and N1 have different part numbers but should be interchangeable.

Chain - Timing, Camshaft: Pt. # 13028-53J03

fits: P10, P11, B13, B14, B15 (SR20DE engines) (Different part number from SR16/20VE which is 13028-1N500)

Guide - Chain, tension side
: Pt. # 13085-1N500

fits: P10 ('98+), P11, B14 ('99+), B15 (SR20DE engines) (Same as SR16/20VE) (Interchangeable w/ B13 Highport parts) (B14 lowport guide will only work if certain conditions are met - other parts changed)

Guide - Chain, Slack side: 13091-2J202

Same as/fits: 2000+ P11/B15 (Same as SR16/20VE) (Interchangeable with B13 Highport parts) (B14 lowport guide will only fit if certain conditions are met - other parts changed)

FYI:

- P10, P11, B13, B14, B15, S13, SR20VE, SR16VE (others as well) all share the same crankshaft gear/sprocket
- P10, P11, B13, B14, B15, SR20VE all share the same camshaft gears/sprockets (SR16VE and N1 are different)

* The indications in this post are specific to Nissan part numbers (and not necessarily part interchangeability).

Timing Chain and guides
Thanks a lot!!! In resume it should work just fine. Only the part number is different but not the chain it self. I give a lot of thoughts today and I remember that in the "Frankenstein" builds, the DE chain is used, and is a VE head. According to that we can assume the chains are the exact same.
Thanks again for all the guidance. I'll post some news promptly

Greetings!!

I'd pull the timing chain guide out. two 12mm bolts. it really guides nothing but causes start up clatter and damages the chain over time
