Now I did go with the thicker OEM head gasket, and I am aware it may cost me some power.

BUT.... port and polish with Flow dynamics Flow Bench and 3 angle valve job for the motor. I'd be happy with just 5 extra HP really. Made 206whp @ 7900 something RPM @ 112MPH. 210whp would be good with me. But with the thicker head gasket, IDK.

Thicker OEM?

Thicker ones are normally aftermarket but...

If you are using a thicker hg, then I assume it's a metal one. It's normally recommended that you re-surface head and/or block when using metal hg to ensure a proper 'fit'. If that is done, then your cr should be back to where you were or close.

Peace

Having the head resurfaced as I write this at a machine shop - the new gasket is the OEM SR20VE one from Nissan and yes its metal.

Still trying to decide on whether or not to go for this intake manifold and if it's worth the possible 10 HP. Getting it would double the cost of this current operation

Sorry to bust in but I was also considering this in my future VET build, has anyone tried on boost?

I'm sure he's talking about the vet gasket which is slightly thicker but no problem.

Cool. When I was looking at the options, Greg mentioned the Cometic gasket which is thinner and can slightly raise compression but all of this was such a pain in the arse, I'd rather lose a few HP and not worry about another blow out.

ive heard this also but was informed that the vet is the same thickness when squished between the head and the block as the stock ve....

The composite VE head gasket when torqued down its thinner than the VET one I think if you resurface the head then you wont have any major loss
As for the intake manifold you can buy it!!! It will give you about 10whp on your setup but you will need to tune your motor for it !!!
Also make sure to get the 45 deg elbow and get the AIC valve base welded on the bottom of the plenum
Also you will need to port match the plate to runners and fix the plate radius on cylinder 1 and 4 on the plate!!

Ahh looks lovely but just too much $$ and all the little extras needed to make it fit.. looks like I'm sticking with the stock.

Then you wont see much gains of a ported head on stock intake manifold!!!
