Ok maybe my 10-15whp is a bit over estimated. Did a compression test and seem to have lost a bit of compression on my no 4 cyl. So that could be adding to the losses I'm feeling with the stock intake now.

To answer your question, no I didn't cut the plenum off. I did however manage to get right in there with a drill extension and port the entries of the runners into a nice velocity stack style entry. I did most of the work to the upper sections of the runners. Also worked the inside of the plenum extensively. The bottom runner section I just removed the casting marks mostly.

Question. Why is there a little flat section in the lower runner manifold right infront of each injector? It's as if the top half of the spray pattern will hit this "wall" essentially. Will it cause any harm if I smoothed that out?

If I can get to the core of my cr loss issue on cyl 4 I will most likely get some numbers with the stock intake, and then with the modified one.

Well after the piston scuff debacle there isn't much more to add to this right now. Intake will be going onto my new motor which is a much more conservative 2.1 build.

I'm also doing a similar experiment

Right now I'm trying to find a 3.5" pipe for the intake..

What throttle body is that?

It's very close to your number 4 runner there. Have you considered adding an elbow to move it further away? That is my next mod, but in my case it's partially for better tb positioning and a straight shot to the cai.

Q45 TB

Yes, I've thought about the clearance from that runner, I'll test it out and see how it goes, may add an elbow if needed.

what tps are you guy running with the q45, I have a manifold & q45 tb to install. or how are you running the q45?

You can wire in the q45 tps, I'm running the stock q45 tps and it works great. The nice part is the q45 tps harness (the pigtail wires coming out of the tps) uses a standard Nissan plug that is easy to find on any obd1 Nissan. Use a multimeter to find your ground, 12v source and 0-5v signal wires and wire them to match.

Great thread, I also made one of these manifolds and noticed gains in throttle response.

I used the q45 tps.the gray plug with 3 wires. Its the same plug as the factory b13 o2 sensor.

I did 193whp on a mustang dyno on a stock VE with the above setup, ebay header, 3 inch catback.
