That being said, there is no off the shelf, bolt on, intake manifold, period. The closest we have is the Xcessive plenum which takes some modification to make it work to its full potential. It is also not an off the shelf bolt on plenum, but it can be customized to what you want which is nice. I have one of the Xcessive intake plenums and there was a bit of modification required to make it proper. This does not bother me as i am very hands on and take enjoyment from working with my hands. A lot of people do not have the tools, knowledge, or motivation to do this. It is also just the plenum and not a full manifold, so again there is more modification to the stock lower runners to make it perform its best.

It is my opinion that if someone came out with a bolt on manifold that was around the $800-1000 mark it would sell. A few will sell right away as some people do want them. But what needs to happen is back to back testing on a dyno to show the gains. Going back to your point, most people on this forum are not willing to take a risk and test it for themselves, not a great attitude to have for a community that wants good products.

I am going to test the Xcessive plenum I have with the stock TB before the car is put away for winter, then I will do another test in the spring when I upgrade to the Q45 TB and 3.5" intake piping. I also want to change my Mazworx header that has not gotten the best reviews. I am willing to share this info but it is happening on my time, I am in no rush.

All in all, if someone made a full cast manifold that is proven it would sell, it would be a risk for the producer but over time I am sure they would end up making a profit.

Please stop with this nonsense. There are many companies in that price range that offer full I take manifolds all it usually takes is a phone call or an email rather than looking for an add to cart button on there website.

Not to bash them or anything, but i can tell you no research or thought goes into those manifolds. If you look, they all use the same runners, same plenum for 100 applications.

That must be awesome for them considering 80% if not more of the fastest people in the import drag racing community run there product make amazing power and are fast as hell.

Don't forget progress in the engineering aspect of cars has gone a long way since the SR20 engines and chassis' they are placed in were created.

A large portion of those "original, hard-hitters" are still around in the auto world, just left the engine and/or chassis behind since newer technology has brought in cooler engines with cooler chassis'.

"Ya can't stop progress", I reckon would sum it up pretty well.

Again, this is for a turbo application not NA. I'll definitely do better Than stock. Plus the fastest turbo VE and some of the most powerful k series motors in the world run his manifolds. I think he knows what he's doing

Like I said, im not bashing him that he doesnt know what he's doing, but all his designs are pretty much the same for everything. And yes turbo cars benefit more from this than anything but realistically anything turbo'ed and especially the ones you are talking about are pushing 40-50psi if not higher in boost pressure. Just think about how much air volume is being moved at that point. Hell at that point I can take some large pvc pipe, a large cardboard box and call that a plenum and it would still "make power" LOL..

In dream land, yes a $800.00-$1000.00 manifold would based of a single person's opinion. But businesses have to look at things as a whole in perspective. There is probably less than a handful of guys that would truly shell out $800.00-$1000.00 for a good intake manifold. And being said that, that price range isnt even for a "good" intake manifold. A good one is around 2000.00-2500.00. And you know what, there are more guys in that "other" industry that have bought that said 2000.00 manifold then we would probably ever see a SR20 FWD guy pay 1000.00 for one.

Im just really tired of hearing guys say or exclaim "build it they will come" or "we dont get enough support for the SR20 FWD industry" when guys complain about a damn near complete turbo oil feed line kit with some good parts for $59.00. Ive been a vendor on this site for close to a year now, I can honestly say ive probably received a handful of sales from this forum itself only.

I know this community is cheap thus the price range i gave. The Xcessive and Performanc+ Plus plenums are in the $400 range and those do not sell all that much, but no-one has ever done a comparison. Without proof no one will buy anything on this forum.

Your points are valid, but I stand by my comments. I was not bashing any you, just explaining what people expect and are willing to pay. We do not have great support because we are so cheap, and in a dying chassis/motor which does not help. The phrase too little too late comes to mind.

I appreciated you and all of our forum vendors for the support and products.

Adding info to the thread. I finally go around to tuning with my Xcessive plenum.

Before: Mustang Dyno at 220 WHP 168 Ft-LB corrected
After: Mustang Dyno at 237 WHP 172 Ft-LB corrected - Only the plenum and lower runners changed.

Mods:
Basic Xcessive plenum with stock VE TB
Gasket matched and smoothed lower runners
3" intake piping
6" Velosity stack with 6" K&N filter
N1 cams
88mm 12.5:1 CP pistons
Ported head
Mazworx header
3" full exhaust, 3" Magnaflow cat, resonator, Dynomax VT muffler
JWT Flywheel
JWT PP /w B15 disk
GSpec pulleys
No AC or PS
Nismotronic ECU
93 Octane Pump gas, up to 10% Ethanol

Old graph

New graph - Not smoothed, some room for improvement. I did not want to spend a whole lot of time on this as I will be changing things over the winter.

New setup

Good info, now I have an idea what to expect with a somewhat similar setup planned. Looking forward to when you use the Q45 t/b down the road.
