What cleaners do you use? I know Cali limits what can be bought due to hippies, but over in TX we use B-12 Chemtool that stuff instantly removes oil and grease without scrubbing, then I take two pipe cleaners and spray while moving the pipe cleaners inside the oiling holes, then use compressed air to clean everything out that might still be trapped in there. Gotta use the pipe cleaners man inside the holes. They are fuzzy and the bristles don't come off easily... they look like this.

I always have the crank micro polished since its cheap and they will check it. acl std bearing cover grades 0-3. I would assume the rods are not true. I got a spare set of gtir rods.

If I can grab those from you I would be able to further troubleshoot.

No problem. Just pm me your address. I will get them out to you when I get home from Vegas.

Thanks man. I was thinking of installing de rods and pistons to see of its piston slap. This is the 4th build and they have all used the 54c pistons and rods.

Any test or measurement I can take to verify the are true?

You need to take the crank and rods to a machine shop to have them clean and polish then mic it out to make sure you get the correct sized bearings. If you do not know how to do this yourself have someone else do it. It is a step that should not be skipped. My local machinist is great and takes the time to make sure everything is correct.

The issue lies with the gtir rod/posting combo. I can test measure the rods with a caliper and compare. All motors were running when pulled.

Update: the motor knocks when turned over with plugs in.
With the plugs out they rotate free. I'm wondering if its piston slap.

Rod knock usually doesn't appear until operating temperature.

So are you saying this is the 4th time you have assembled the SAME rods and had failure? And never measured them?
