Thread: sr16ve pistons on a DE!??

Hi guys im wondering, if i can use the sr16ve piston an my DE ? if yes what else ill need, rings, etc etc?

also want to know what would be the cr whit this set up and some S4 370's and calum ecu

I think that it can be done.

you can definately put the sr16ve pistons into a de,
the s15 autech n/a sylvia had them fitted as standard, 200hp from what i can remember.

not very streetable on pump gas with factory timing, lots of detonation. Need to have timing pulled back a lot below 3000rpm,

i know from experience

so you think its not a good mod?
and what would be the compression ratio with this pistonS?

It would be worth it if you can notch the valve reliefs a bit more and run a really thick headgasket.

somewhere closer to 12.5:1 compression is more manageable on pump gas.

with 13.5:1 you are going to need 95octane+ to get the ish running properly, and yeah, not cheap.

i thought it raised the compression to 12-12.5:1

I think he is talking about the pistons in a regular DE, in which case the compression is 11.7:1, which is streetable on 93 octane. I have daily driven mine since I built the motor and no problems yet. 180+ HP with BC stage 3 cams.

yeah thats what i meant, a regular 20DE, and 16VE pistons, .. rob, can u tell me what else ill need? beside of the pistons? i got, s4's jwt, 370's injectors, n6 maxima maf, and a calum ecu..

Yeah, here with 16VE pistons on a DE block, VE head = TEH SUCK on pump gas

I am trying a few different maps and see what can be tuned out...

if it's not manageable in a week's time, I'll be selling slightly used 16VE pistons here shortly.
