Didn't know you get a spring action when you preload. That is interesting.

Loading the drivetrane against the brakes, or ebrake in our case. You stage, then pull the ebrake, then slowly let the clutch out, taking the slack out of your drive line until your just about to creep forward. I used to brake axles left and right, but since preloading have not had an issue. Also dropped my 60fts.

it makes the car squat and ready for action with the gears all locked n loaded to go off.... without that the gears would slam on each other when u go and the shock would eventually clean off ur gears.... hand brake have to be working good for a nice launch

Exactly, there is a reason all the top racers do this It isnt only to save driveline but like i said it gives you that initial spring forward. The harder you preload the more spring you get. You really need to have a good strong clutch to do it but as long as you dont preload for an excessive amount of time before actually launching youll be fine.

I bet you with preloading the car would pull consistent low 1.6 60's even on a bad prepped track. On a good track it should get you guys in the 1.5 60's and ride out that first gear a bit more. Dont change a thing on the shifting Yes shifting like that will break gears quicker but the time it saves on slip is worth it.

it would be a good idea to have a camera looking at the slicks i wonder if hes spinning the tire on the rim! i have seen it a lot on RWD cars with very low tire pressure on slicks.

^This is what I thought. I was going to make a thread about bead locking my slicks

Just mark the slicks where they meet the valve stem and you'll know right away if your spinning on the rims

I use beadlock screws on mine. Its a must at this level. It really depends on the rim type, rim width and slick width. When you tend to use a wider slick than the rim they will want to slip on the rim if you dont use screws.

Especially for use turbo guys that put our slick pressure down in the 5.5-6 psi range. There is very little pressure holding them against the bead. My old set of wheels I had that problem with the rim slipping. You could even hear it in the video.
