VE with girdle?
after poking around the de fsm i got to thinking...
why doesn't the ve have a girdle? cost savings only? ya, it has a lighter 4 c/w crank but, come on
under high tq or high rpm conditions whats to prevent the light-weight cast aluminum block from longitudinal flex? the crank, and a couple thrust washers? hell, the cylinders get distorted from just bolting down the head
i'm sure others have looked at this and scratched their heads also. who's put a girdle in their VE? de upper and/or lower pans required?
