The only good set was the hybrid 20v/n1 combo which apparently did well at doing exactly what they thought it would do when copying two factory cams lol. Yes they put effort but it was a futile effort. Kelford actually stepped up and even though their first several sets of cams got outperformed by n1's they kept at it and finally made the latest series of the 184c's which do pretty well when used with the HC and big bore motors. So yeah, they stuck with it, Franklin didnt.

Sorry I offended you but its the cold hard truth.

I know it's hard for you to understand but they made cams way back before you thought the VE was worth anything. I haven't had any contact with Frankling since 2005 so I can't say if they make anything better than the Kelfords. It could be that they just stopped making cams for the VE period so I'm not going to do you and speculate on things I don't know about.

*This is pure speculation*

I'm thinking stock intake manifold is the biggest enemy for anything larger than N1s. That's why a lot of shops have tried to come up with that magic profile, but none have actually succeed... and we still don't have nothing that works like JWT's S3s did for DEs for example (Bolt on 10% more power or so). So The magic combo for big numbers should be composed by 4 things:

Springs, cams, IM/TB and header ---> 220+ WHP on stock compression.

Do this sound coherent?

It should be no problem on stock compression once all these parts make it out. I would almost say even without the intake manifold and TB that it can be done with the right cams and header.

i have the n1/20v hybrids i thinks they are great, but i have no figures. i am unsure of the timing they should have been install with as i have read abit about some cams 5deg tdc etc. if any one can inform on the best timing for install that would be sweet. some awesome vet cams would be nasty..

When you already have a set of very refined cam ,assume we don't have larger profile camshaft available or our engine can not rev too high in order to maintain reliability... the last factor of power making will be depending on air velocity of both intake and exhaust.. optimum flow , velocity and resonance will determine the engine's peak and and wideness of powerband...

The only things that i haven't go through was the effect of megaphone to improve the efficiency of drag effect of the high velocity exhaust without drag out the fresh air too much on timing .. i think it should take some serious amount of time to get ideal result...

Marsh Tuning is in works of several different cam profiles and testing has already been done and look very promising on what is considered to be the mild cam from the looks of things.
Testing is still going on on the big lobe/big duration at high lift cams that require slight modifications to the valve stem seals and rocker arms but so far tests have shown very positive but are not complete.

You can hit up Jamie or Mark at Marsh Tuning for more details and time frame of when these will be an off the shelf item.

Apparently, the Franklins are good enough for the land speed record engine, lol.

reg cook had custom Kelford cams with no "vtec" , custom rockers and the cams had aallooootttt of work done to them.

Im going to look for more information about the 20V/N1 from franklin cams, and if everything goes ok, i will get a set for my VE... and definitly will post dyno sheets to see tha gains...

Is there any improvement that should be made to those cams? i mean i like to go to track days... thats my thing, so i dont need something that provides power to high on the powerband but something that provide midrange...

I have the Franklin 20v/N1s... I like them just fine but they require a lot of work and I can't really say it was worth it versus genuine N1s and definitely not against the upcoming Marsh Tuning cam combo (which i have seen first hand).

The franklin centerlines are off so you can't just drop them in strait up and they do require reshimming to get the most out of them. If you have time and access to a dyno you can have fun with them but there are and will soon be even better options available.
