Thread: VVL year differences?

Basically want to know if there are any significant differences in years for VVLs? Specifically is there a better year for use on a SR20DET block? I searched already and didn't find anything. Looking at buying a VVL motor locally for its head.

pretty much all 20ve are all the same, its all about cam combos and bottom end combos. are heads are pretty much identical beside the 20v head that has a few differences but i really dont recall exactly wat they are.

Certain years of 20VE's have stiffer valve springs, thus they don't valve float until 7800 rpm, rest of the VE's will valve float at 7200 rpm. This is a fairly important detail that you should know before you decide to rev your VE to the moon on 20VE cams.

Nonsense. Reved mine to 9k still holding strong. Sees 7500 Daily and 8k when i feel like driving like Tanner Foust. Maybe i got blessed to have the Stiffer spring VE Motor.

got any more info on this...like what years were supposedly stiffer?
The earlier motors are supposed to have a bit smoother castings also.

Pre 97 were supposed to have better castings...
