Another VET build: Questions
I am building another motor, but I am at a crossroads. There are a few questions so I will just get started.

Headgasket: Cosworth. Will it surely work for VE? also which thickness should I get. My pistons are custom 8.5 je pieces. stock bore.

Cams: the stock cams cause a lot of reversion. Would the VET cams be a worthy investment? or should i just keep the stock ones and play with overlap. If I do take out overlap on the big lobes, I will have negative overlap on the small ones right? I suppose I could reduce overlap with a bigger exhaust housing, but response is needed for a road course car.

I think the stock cams could be used. But I don't know if I should just go ahead and get the VET cams and call it good.

Well, I think I may go with the VET cams. At least be the test mule for what will make power. I know the ve cams can make power but they want a huge turbo!

I still don't know about the head gasket though. I don't really want a cometic.

Some people says Stock Metal Headgasket is a good choice

I got JE Pistons 245015 for my VE-T, they are supposed to be 8.5:1, but I think its a bit higher, plus the VE combustion chamber, the compression will be a bit to high for my taste. So i decided to go with cosworth 1.5mm HG. It should arrive in a couple of weeks here. According to them, they designed it so it can fit DE and VE heads, if not, I will just modify it. I decided to skip cometic also based on some people experience, as well as I decided to skip ARP studs and ordered Greddy studs.

A lot of people recommend the VE metal gasket but the bad news is that is currently unavailable, even with GregV. So stop recommending that lol.

My question is, why you think the stock cams might be a problem if we have seen a lot of VE-Ts making good power with them here?

Good luck on your VE-T, let me know the process, I already started building mine, so far i bought everything, I just need a T3/38mm top mount manifold with a good price, dunno where to get it lol.

No I got these custom made for the VE. These ones have a much bigger dish than my old 8.5:1 DE pistons.

The stock VE cams will do well for really big turbo setups of gt35r and higher with tubular manifolds. But I have a log manifold and a gt3076r. The cams won't make power until rediculously high rpm. The VET cams will make much better low end and will work with my log mani I am thinking.

tubular manifolds are expensive and too unreliable for a road race car. IF I were going full drag the tubular would be the way to go.

48* of overlap for turbo is not good, no matter how you dice it. If I were going for a 550+whp car then the stock Ve cams would do great with a tubular.
