Thread: Big misfire problem, HELP!!!

I think the engine is pinging as well guys.

Maybe i got a bad tank of gas or the maf is fcked, but maybe like the other guy said knock sensor.

I'm working on it and will update often until my problem is fixed

On the back of the motor, under the inlet runners and to the left of the oil filter.

Do a compression check on the engine, if water got in the cylinders you could have a bent rod....

I really hope not and i think / hope it's just the MAF


I got a new maf now from a member of the forum, paid 40$ for it i will try it tonight or tomorrow!!



i will update, also i will do 2 more oil change just to be sure, i just bought some STP water remover too and i will put some 94 octane gas at petro canada as well.

Guys new update

Yesterday i changed the MAF and this morning i still had the same problem. So i don't think its the MAF. Then i used some STP water remover and it was much better, i get only like small hesitation now, it's not as bad as before. Also used some stp octane booster.

Perhaps i had a bad tank of gas or something or could it be the gas pump?

Next i will try to change the spark plug wires and the batterie as they have a lot of milleage / years.


So far this is what i changed


-Did an oil change
-Changed Spark plugs (NGK Iridium) i love these plugs
-Changed Negative battery cable(was very corroded)
-I put some injectors cleaner in the gas
-Cleaned the MAF connector
-Changed the MAF
-I used some STP water remover



Now stuff you guys told me to check:

1-Check if there is oil in the Dizzy
2-Change Cap and rotor
3-Change the Dizzy
4-Knock Sensor

Anything else you think of?

this fcking problem is pissing me off so bad!!!

I have misfiring problem too,at very low rpm.engine sounds on bigcams lumpy idle.prob isintermitentg.wireps are ok. Im not yet sure what it is.i hope i dont have a bad maf or knock.
btw can i use vq20 knock? Or a de knock?
Even before this prob rev is not smooth,there ishesitation at reving at idle
