i want to start a 2.3 build, i can get machine work pretty cheap if not for free through work. i just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with jgy sleeves?
I would not deal with JGY, Do some research man and youll know why. They are no good man.
Just get yourself some Darton Sleeves from anywhere but there, ebay, Greg V, Mazworx, you name it. Anywhere but JGY.

Whats mixed about JGY sucks, JGY was having a lawsuit pressed against him, JGY sucks again. lol I could pull up the search list if you want. Im sure Shawn B would be happy to do that for you.
Anyways, I hope your machine shop knows what they are doing because installing sleeves in an SR is no walk in the park. You will also need a torque plate for the install and final bore/hone of the sleeve and then lastly followed by the decking. If you do it without the torque plate there is an almost 100% certainty that the sleeves will lift up and then final decking wont be correct and as soon as you install the head the sleeve will sink and the headgasket will blow putting coolant into the cylinders and/or pressurizing the cooling system.
So I suggest you research some more and make sure they are 100% able to do it. I dont trust anyone besides Mazworx to do sleeves on an SR block. Some people have had good luck using other good well known places locally and most have horror stories. Myself included.

^This. I would not let a shop with no experience do this job. Spend the extra money, you will thank yourself. A buddy of mine had his dads friend who has a machine shop that specialized in muscle cars sleeve his b series bottom end. The car seemed good until it went to the dyno and dropped a sleeve.
Send a block to Mazworx and have them do it right.
PS - There is no real "cheap" way of doing a 2.3 build that makes good power. I went in thinking I can do it for 2500-3000. All the little shit added up quick.
