16ve ECU woes........
i had my car installed sr16 cams (non n1) together with is ecu because i swapped my 20ve ecu and cams.

now....i did some pulls and car felt stronger esp 5400 til 8200 ( had 93 octane)...

inital observations
noticed it engine was not as smooth when i had the 20ve ecu and cams, revving was slower when vvl is engaged and there is a staggered feeling on the engine...

yesterday i put fuel 93 oct and 97 octane 50/50 ratio....
no a 3 hour traffic with ac mmy car overheated but when i turn off ac it goes normal, dunno if this is related or it was just my radiator..

is the 16ve ecu timing more advanced and the fuel is less for the 20ve? or both are lesser?

anybody can chime in especially those who used this ecu?

how about more information, like are you running a sr16ve or a sr20ve? you shouldn't be using the sr16 ecu without a safc or atleast 370cc injectors on a 2.0.. do you have a wideband? what are you afrs?

What were the oustide temps when you overheated (since this is going to be the hottest July in U.S. history) and what kind of coolant are you running. You might want to consider distilled water & water wetter.

The 16ve and 20ve both run same injectors, and a similar maf, but not same. Swapping a 16ve ecu will make it quite lean. Only way to run a 16ve ecu is to run 370cc injectors and a adjustable pressure reg to lean it out at light loads, and the injectors can then compensate for higher load and rpm.

This has been used before with ok results, but its not ideal.

sorry was in a rush when creatng the thread

im ruuning a stock 20ve with a 20ve maf, and a tri y header. i have access to wide band from a friend who did this ..ill have him checxk though i could not hear it running lean at WOT or is it that audible?

thank you for the info...

i think ill just get a Nismo tronic chipped ECU, i bought a daughterboard from Japan and the supplier didnt even get my money i am not sure what his plans

now my question is if doesnt lean out so much or the afrs are ok is it safe to use it?

anyone knows how much differences the 16 vs 20 timing and fuel maps?
is it advisable to run 100 octane now to be safe since i dont have access to the wideband yet?

how could you expect that an ecu mapped for a 1600cc motor would be able to run a 2000cc motor properly?

you are running LEAN sir.

i know you may want the 8300 rev limit and all but you need a re-mapped ecu or a piggyback [dont recommend] or get some 370cc injectors + adjustable fpr

i used emanage blue with 16ve ecu on my sr20ve + 16ve cams. made 176whp. didnt like the set up

but check this: before we tuned with the emanage blue, @ wot, the afr was 16:1. go figure

peace

yes sir i had no choice but to run it since my 20ve ecu needs to be taken

thats interesting if your afrs was 16:1...

ill be getting a nismo tronic, had no luck daughterboard i purchased didnt arrive...

i have no access to wide band now best thing i could check is the color of the plugs...but so far no white smoke coming out of the exhaust

do you think this runs also lean on idle and low load low rpms?

you can cruise around until u get it sorted out. no hard pull

should be ok. but best to put in some 370cc injectors + adj fpr if you gonna be waiting a while before you sort out the ecu

peace

and adjust u dizzy to help with the aggressive timing that the 1600 ecu comes with....

ill remember that no hard pull just cruising. Im rooting to run the drags on aug 18 hope the ecu will arrive already.
