SR20VE build with 16VE pistons
Hey everyone, this is kind of my welcome post, I've been looking around for some time and decided to register
I'm from Santiago, Chile and bought my P11 back in 2009, since then I've done a several mods to it,
- SR20VE head swap
- SR20DE bottom, standard bore.
- hotshot type header
- CAI with JWT pop charger
- Reprogrammed NX2000 ECU
- SAFC2
- Innovate wideband
- fuel@4 bar (fuel pressure regulator)
- bypassed throttle body heater hose
- supertech valve seals
- SR16VE pistons
- 4 puck exedy ceramic clutch
- fujitsubo exhaust
- iridium spark plugs
After my previous build went ouch! (bent valves and scratched cylinder) I did a rebuild and the block was bored then re-skirted to go back to standard spec (86mm)
*
Here you can appreciate the helical honing*
The crankshaft was balanced and bellow you can see it already mounted (flywheel and the pressure plate were also balanced together with the crankshaft)
The bent valves were replaced and supertech valve seals were used. Here is the head final surface result after wet sanding.
Bellow are pics from the piston install process, with new rings obviously.*
Adjusting rods placement
High compression pistons, dome view.
Block ready for final torque adjustment*
And a short clip !
I'd like to know about anyone's experience with SR16 pistons on this build as the compression ratio is known to be above 13:1. I'm currently running on 97 RON gas with my distributor timing almost at minimum.
I've been thinking about options to control detonation and advance timing, this are the options I've thought so far,
- Keeping timing down, and adding toluene when advancing.
- Methanol injection.
- Thicker head gasket
- Take 1mm or so off my pistons
- ECU tune
