SR16VE pistons = 430 grams
'91-93' 300zx (VG30D) 88mm = 520 grams

where did you get your number for the 16ve piston? as it's much higher than mine?

CP 86mm 12.5:1 = 328g

SR16VE non n1 = 335g

The below weights include the piston and the wrist pin.

SR16VE pistons = 430 grams
'91-'93 300 ZX (VG30D) pistons = 520 grams

I read somewhere that the SR16VE pistons, by themself, weigh 331 grams. I think it is safe to assume that the pin weighs appx. 100 grams and would be somewhat similar for both pistons?

^From this thread. Are the SR16VE N1 and SR16VE non N1 pistons the same weight?

To add some fun to this thread...

VK45 pistons are 93mm and weigh 364 grams.

QR20 pistons are 89mm and weigh 356 grams.

Are the weights including the wrist pin? Mine do not include the wrist pin or snap rings. Bare piston.

According to Nissan, the SR16VE and the SR16VE N1 pistons (with wrist pin) are both 430 grams. Now, there may be a slight variation in the wrist pin weight, but I would assume that the pin is the same, which would mean the pistons are the same too. Either way, they would be very close if not exacty the same, so I think it is safe to say (without a scale) that the bare pistons (N1 vs non N1) are the same weight.

FYI - Nissan SR20 snap ring weighs not more then 1 gram.

my weights are just the bare piston so that explains the difference

Update!!!
This motor been running strong for the last month!!
I changed a couple of things from the original build!!
Swapped Custom IM for Xcessive plenum.
A really lightly ported head with some chamber work nothing fancy!!
And added a megaphone with reverse cone to run open header!!
Swapped N1 IN cam for 184-C
Nismotronic SA conversion to speed density!!

Final results!!

Last Dyno graph best of N1 IN vs 184-C IN cam!!
