So there you have it, DE block + VE head will work no problem as long as 1.The block or head hasn't been decked, and 2. It is installed properly (making sure cams are in the correct position at TDC when installed!)

So to answer the original question, "No" the valves will not hit.

^^^ and if the hit are u going to fund the repairs. Play it safe and slap some ve pistons in there or get the stock de fly cut. And also don't limit urself to only stock cams. N1s will never work

AND you use a thicker than stock gasket.
AND you don't ever float a valve.
AND you don't ever have a valve spring wear out.
AND you don't ever get your engine hot where it takes up valve lash.
AND you don't ever measure the actual clearance and cringe.
AND...

DET pistons don't allow any more clearance than DE... It hits on the perimeter land.

Go back to previous page, read post#8, and post#20. The op clearly asks in the first post of this thread for info from people that's done it.. post#8, post#20, that is all.

Thicker than stock head gasket? Page 1 post#17. Everything else mentioned is bad news for any motor...

I hope this thread doesn't cause some people to get upset... cause it looks like it might head that way (knock on wood)

Weird, the VE head I have has been resurfaced twice everything is fine even with the N1's. BTW I've used stock replacement $35 fel-pro head gasket each time.

I've had no marks on the pistons, not even on the carbon buildup. I have also never resurfaced the block though.
