you need to figure out if its not getting fuel or not getting spark.. for spark if you dont know how to do the ghetto way of testing, you can buy a spark plug tester at harbor freight or possibly the auto part store.

as for testing for fuel, undo the fuel rail from the manifold leaving the hoses on, set it on some paper towels or something, then turn the engine over a few times, you want to see wet marks from the injectors spraying, hopfully each spot is roughly the same size.

he said hes getting spark

make sure your cap and rotor are good, kind of dumb but someone i used to hang out with did this with my old engine when i did a gtir swap back in the day...try tapping the injector with a screwdriver handle, it could be stuck, it worked on my car and ran like a charm afterwards

^^ this works great for checking the injectors and fuel.

It really sounds like an injector to me,but totally guessing at this point.

Lynchis right, you gotta start at step one,and check spark and fuel before you can start to find the problem first....
Otherwise you are just throwing parts at it hoping to get lucky.

You are almost there, man dont give up.
Some of us(Dan:rolleyes seem to forget sometimes that we all have to start learning somewhere. This is a great forum to learn from, thats for sure.
However,Dan does have a point, although I feel he may have been a bit uncool about getting his point across
The more info you can provide, whether its just pics or videos or whatever, will help us help you
Welcome to the forum, hope we can help you get the VVL running right.
Check your spark, and fuel, and get back to us....we will get you figured out after that...I promise

Lol, im sleep deprived, have a 1 week old and a 2 year old at home, heavily medicated and disabled, sometimes i can sound like a ass home which like i said, i didnt mean to sound like, whenever you do a swap like this, you always want someone who knows what their doing with you, like i had lynch with me doing the work for me so if any problems arose, well he was there lol.

double chek your injector clips, pull em of an push them back on an make sure the CLICK when ya put them back on, when i first did my swap it was only running on 3 cylincers, i was wondering why it sounded like a subaru and my friends stock se-r pulled on me, turned out one of the injector clips wasn't all the way down.

Thanks for the help guys. I helped him with the swap but I'm also no expert. We have done a few other kinds of swaps so we're not complete newbs, just looking for suggestions. Im also leaning toward some kind of injector problem by the way it is acting. Hopefully we'll find out tomorrow.
