How does weight come into play at all with engine comparisons, unless you're comparing the weight of the engine only?

This argument is soo country/drivetrain bias.

In the states you guys love your honda's and throw stupid cash at them. You also like the small fwd N/A sports car scene. In this scene all the big boys play with honda's.

now lets look at the facts here. The K series will be the better engine fully modified for several reasons. I think the biggest of these is the rod/stroke ratio that really allows them to rev hard and make power high in the rpm range.

But the the K series fetches stupid coin.

So the better question would be; Give a budget of xx what engine would be better in N/A form. Here i think the sr20ve will stomp the honda up until around 8k. But then you have to ask given $xx what engine and trans combo would be best. SR16 trans and bolt on ve will still win to a point.

basic and fun street car/engine:

sr20ve > k20

Want to break records:

K20 > SR20ve

In fact want to break anything.....

Honda > Nissan

Want to be the underdog and surprise people:

SR20VE > K20

Want to turn into a wanker and feel the urge to brag about how big your small cock is:

K20 > SR20VE

That is true...

Although the K series motor is popular among Honda guys..

You have to take into account not only the power to weight ratio but the cost effectiveness of swapping the motor.

Most guys I know swap the K in their Civic Hatches, the swap kit alone is expensive let alone aquiring the actual motor swap.

With the amount of money you spend on a bone stock K swap, you can have a built sr23ve or sr24ve IMO...

While I don't disagree with you... Devil's advocate: The Honda owner is now left with an OEM reliable setup. You're left with a high strung racing setup with all the headaches that go with it.

High strung racing setup?

Sleeves, pistons, rods.

Stronger sleeve, enlarged cooling passages (AEBS sleeves), lighter piston & rod.

Pretty simple and reliable when done right.
