I did a search for bad cometic experiences and the only complaints I hear are from DIYers. I don't hear anything bad from any of the professionals around my area. They all swear by them.
I had a cometic before and did not have a porblem with it. I needed to change since I knew I was going to go for big boost and need to be safe. From what I have seen it seems to be a issue at high constant boost pressures...it does not seal as well. But I have seen these problems paired with ARP studs. On the other hand OEM HG and studs never gave me an issue on any of my boosted motors.
My Cometic gasket blew in 2 places
My motor isn't boosted
Unless you want to call Charles a DIY'er that isn't the problem.
90mm Cometic gasket isn't 90mm

Wow this is disturbing.
GregV didn't have any stock VE head gaskets in so I went ahead and ordered a Cometic that is copy of the stock VE one. Hopefully I won't have any problems at 215-225 WHP

I wouldn't imagine you would. I would have gone with the stock one, but hey I need this car running and I am not spending over $100 for a gasket. No VVL love I guess.
