Are these pullies worth it with 200+ whp?
By "worth it" I mean, is the money and time and BS that usually comes up with the install worth the few extra horsepower? Anyone try these on their VE? I know on the DE, the UR 2-pulley set did add about a few hp consistently all over the dyno.

As for my VE, I already have N1 cams, springs, warm air intake, JMS header to 3" exhaust and it put down 206 hp @ the wheels.

From Gspec.com:

Crank pulley, $135.00 - aluminum crank pulley. Copied from VVL. Direct fit onto VE engines, will fit DE by adding oil pump drive/spacer. OEM pulley weighs 4 lbs 2 oz, this pulley weighs 1 lb, 2 oz.

Aluminum Crank Pulley, 2.0 (underdrive), Aluminum crank pulley. Copied from VVL. Direct fit onto VE

Water pump pulley, $53.00 - says it underdrives 10-15% of the Unorthodox Racing aftermarket pulley. I don't know how much the Unorthodox Racing pulley underdrives the stock water pump pulley, but if that's true it must do pretty well.

Aluminum Oversized water pump pulley, 2.0, the Water Pump Pulley Fits SR motors.

So you figure thats around $200 with shipping for those 2. What do you guys think, anyone have experience with these? THanks

Some type of under-drive water pump pulley is basically mandatory on these engines, and not a complicated install. I'd say for sure do it.

The crank pulley is a different story. It is not that hard to install if you have the correct pulley puller. The only real factor here is if you want to accept the additional crankshaft torsional resonant vibrations for the added power. The added power and engine response is there though, for sure. Only you can answer if the added 3-6 HP and engine response is "enough" to make it worth it.

Ok, I'm going to order the water pump pulley per your suggestion. Ordering right now.

And yeah that stinkin' the pulley-puller thing, argh what a pain. My friend just used a bunch of screwdrivers to remove his crank pulley but that of course risks doing damage to the seal.

You can probably rent a crank pulley puller tool from Pep Boys for a refundable $50 deposit. You can have the tool for a week and when you return it, they give you back the $50.

I say stick with stock crank pulley, though.
