i dont get what ur saying now but if it was moisture in the line then it would affect him at any part of the operation.... not just at idle...

why would u consider changing the lines?

Do you hear a click when you turn on the AC? if yes and the temp is still warm there might e a leak on the lines and freon is low level. drier will be bubbly

if you dont hear click or click is intermittent it when you turn it on or on higher rpm might be the thermostat..

bottom line need to check for leaks, freon level and if system (evaporator and lines) needs cleaning

My car as well has issues with getting the idle up high enough to kick the compressor on. For the most part I am fine with it as I don't want heat soak. Most of the time I'm going again before it gets hot inside. However, on the really hot days at a long light I'll give it a touch of throttle to kick it back on.

1. is the condenser fan working properly (speed or rotation)?
2. as said earlier does ur ac up the rpm at idle when its on to say 1k?
3. is the evap filter dirty or the evap needs to be cleaned?
is the system fully charged?

Mechanic said that the freon levels were right where he left them before I picked it up the first time.

Fans are working and blowing in towards the header. I have 2x 7" fans on the front (bumper) side of the condenser and one factory fan on the back side of the radiator.

New line was because the old one was said to have a hole in it.

My idle is rock solid. Rock solid as in it doesn't kick up at all really when the a/c engages. I can hear it engage (or at least try to), just the rpm doesn't kick up to 1000-1200.

Not sure how to check the filter in there or know if the dryer needs changed?

Summary of my findings with the thermometer.

Ambient temp 65-70:
Idle - 50
Cruising - 40

Ambient Temp 85-90:
Idle 70-80
Cruising 60

I'd say those are pretty good numbers really... If you really want it to freeze you, go back to r12. I see r12 on Craigslist around here often

Right, I'm not blowing that cold at normal driving speeds let alone idle. I'd love to have those numbers.
