Stig the only reason I say go with custom pistons is to avoid the headache of trying to map for higher compression if your gas can't take it. If that is out of the budget then just use the stock VE pistons. The N1 pistons will need to get the side skirts notched to clear the piston squirters. I know I had when I used SR16 pistons.

I don't want to have a 1. 6 liter displacement as this would be going backwards not forwards. The plan is to have a decent daily with power on a nice fresh engine and make something decent with parts I have. I got other plans for the n1 head at a later date so I am trying to rebuild around the sr20ve to get more power but can run on pump gas which We have plenty 99 octane in the uk. I want to use the n1 pistons as they have a good design .

99 ron or 99 mon ?

if it's 99 ron at the pump it would be close to 94 pump gas we use in the states. Which should do a ok job of keeping the motor safe from pinging and make the mapping a little easier.

If you plan on sticking with the 20VE then all of the following would be things to think about.

1. Get de crank, or buy de

2. put n1 head on current ve

3. Put ve head with n1 pistion in de block. Clean up the combustion chamber a bit. Keep quench pads but smooth them. use n1 head as guide for ports.

4. Have 2 high comp engines that can run on pump gas

My guess is one would be just under 11.5:1 and the other just over 12.5:1. keep which ever runs better. Sell the other one.

5. Profit.....

You can always sell some of the parts you don't intend to use so u have funding for whatever you decide to do. Thay way you only have to spend little if anything on putting your setup together.

Most of the stuff We didn't want to keep has been sold already.

Fuel is 99 ron. Most are shell v power which We only really use. But some small garages have 97 ron.

My plan was to get some manley rods, So you do you think using SR20VE (port and polished)Head, N1 Pistons (unmodded, just notches done), N1 Cams, SR20DE Crank, fresh rings ect, and a new remap with 370cc's. n1 intake will be fine on pump gas?

yeah, you will be fine. After all the cp's are 12.5:1 and plenty people running them on pump gas. Just clean up the cc to lower comp that little bit more

Just Use the N1 pistons or 12.5CP's and Work the chamber of the N1 head to improve the flow of the head and make it same or close CC's of the SR20VE head..

ask cp to make a replica of the 20v pistons but just make lighter

Street engine or race track engine? Got the time to warm up forged soft aluminum pistons so they can seal and expand?
