Yes, ive seen detonation damage over thousands of mile of use and you will see the piston eaten away from detonation. That has no sign of pitting at all by the looks of it. Detonation will pit the hell out of the piston over time of slight detonation. Again besides the broken area and dings the pistons look to be smooth. Thats why im saying it seems more like mechanical damage, something sucked in the motor or hit the valves but that much damage you would definitely see valve damage.

My RR motor had the same damage (except on 3 cylinders), of course I had a jgy tune...LOL

First the plugs gaps were constantly getting closed, then rod knock.

Exactly! You can't assume your custom modified car will be exactly like the car that the tune was made on. This is why I gave up trying to build tunes for people, they just never worked right when it would work just fine on my car.

JWT tunes do exactly what OEM tunes do in this case, they give you a VERY BASE map to account for hundreds of setups. My OEM tune on a stock P11 goes to 10 afr's at WOT, efficient or fast? No, but Nissan made it like that so that it would work on freak engines and not destroy them from being lean.
