SR20VE CAI = slower than WAI?
Okay well i have an Overkill Engineering CAI, i originally had it setup as a WAI prior to cutting the engine bay. I am using an Apexi Power Intake Pod as well.

Now it seems that with the CAI, the car likes to buck at low RPM and doesn't seem as fast "via butt dyno" compared to the WAI setup. I looked at my AFR's and it seems ABIT off but not enough to kill performance.

I have also looked at the threads on here, and it seems the VE likes a short intake, even if it is warm air.

I know the VE's love to breathe, so what is the best setup people have had?

Will also be getting it dyno'ed in a few weeks and going from WAI to CAI to see the difference.. even tho i am 95% the WAI will perform better on a dyno.

CAI's are better for low end, but the extra bends make the flow worse at higher RPM's.

WAI's suck due to the sucking in warm air, but due to the shorter intake pipe and less bends it works better at higher rpms.

Best setup would be a short ram forcing air into the intake, but that's not feasibly for a daily, thus next best is a WAI blocked off from the engine bay with cold air directed into the box.

Like Vadim said. Its not just VE's that like WAI's better. Longer piping and more bends seems to hurt performance. Best setup is a simple 45 with straight piece into the corner of the bay with a velocity stack and large cone filter. Closer into the corner you can get it the better as it will allow cooler air.

I wish there was a more direct way of getting cold air to the intake with having to go all ricer.. but if that is what it will take, i may end up having fun with my hood.

I really like the look of a simple brake duct in a hood to get cool air to the filter, it's not quite as gaudy as a hood scoop.

how efficient is it at movin air to the filter before it get heated up to quick to not have any effect?

You guys ever see that icebox idea for the acuras? Ive always liked that ....clean look and the air isnt ambeint to the bay to much

If there was a way to fit something likethis in a b13...

make it fit? or make you own.

I might try that but little space in the engine bay is irritating

Run a duct from the front bumper to send fresh air into the engine bay. We've also found vented hoods to work reduce under hood temps. I love the rice.

If I remember right OEM does make an Air intake box for this very reason.
