The threaded sensor with a probe is the EGR temp. Depending on the ECU that you have, it might still throw a code with it just plugged in (that was the case with my Nistune). I just used the resistor and didn't have a problem after that.

The EGR solenoid is a little plastic device that is either black or blue in color and has 3 vacuum nipples on it.

in this diagram it's called the canister control solenoid valve.

here's a thread on more details: http://www.sr20-forum.com/general-maintenance/24765-egr-delete-information.html next time do some research already!

you should have 2 seonsor plugs on your harness, 1 for the actual egr valve solenoid and 1 for the egr temp sensor depending on your harness i think. since the ve does not come with an egr valve solenoid unless u took off your old motor and put it on the ve, u can use a resistor on for the egr valve solenoid itself, and might be able to use one for egr temp sensor. good luck

The VE is equipped with a canister control solenoid valve, but most engine importers don't include with the motor. With my B14 I was lucky enough to have bought a complete P11 front clip that came with everything. I'm running the VE solenoid and charcoal canister on my B14. On my P10 I just re-routed the vacuum lines to the solenoid...it's very simple, just follow the diagram above. You won't pass OBD2 smog without it hooked up since they check your evap system through the ecu/OBD port. On the pre-96 here in Cali they pinch one of the lines coming off the charcoal canister and plug a sensor into the gas tank filler to see if the evap is working.

Consider yourself lucky. I have to go through the rollers with my 91 & 94 non EGR B13s with
VEs, both OBD I. Ultimate pain in the ass now that both cars have N1s. The track car's tags are due this month, hope can dial in my Calum RT and get it over with.

Hope you can too, good luck to you sir! Hopefully i can do what they told me. Im just not sure right now because my 5th is bad in my tranny so i dont want to take it off and drill a hole for that crank sensor. I was gonna get a p11 tranny soon

How does it do with the N1's? Still within the limits? I'm going to be installing N1's in the next couple months.

That can be good and bad. If they're checking to see if all you emission monitors are functioning and ready then you may have a problem. My EGR emission monitor never signals ready, but luckily out here we can have 2 monitors that aren't ready as long as there are no codes. Have you researched whether you can have a couple that aren't ready?

I usually D/C the solenoid connections so the cams don't activate. The 94 passed but it wasn't easy. The RT ecu saved my ass. Both cars have widebands and cats. Watching my afrs under load to keep it around 14-15. Here in AZ they are more concerned about the codes, gas cap, any loose hoses under the hood and they will check your evaporative charcoal canister to see if it works. I haven't had EGR since '03 and have had visual inspections every 2 years. No hassles so far. Emissions tests suck.

I see. they only take it up to 15mph in 2nd and 25 in 3rd so the cams never engage. Luckily I have RT ecu's in both cars...but I need to get a wideband.
