VVL Alternator/Distributor FAQ
Hey guys,

I was doing some research but I did not find any post as specific as I want. This is the thing, I started to run a VE engine on my B13 a few months ago. I have the OEM OBD1 harness with the Alternator and Distributor from my previous DE engine and the car has been running just fine.

I’ve hard a couple of histories saying that I should use the alternator and distributor that came originally on the VE engine. My question is… Why is that? Am I losing something? Am I gonna gain something extra?

BTW… I have a Nistune ECU and I’m planning to go to the Dyno and re-tune it cuz right now I’m just running a basic map.

Thanks for any info or feedback you can provide

If you use the b13 ecu and wireloom plus your nistune. you will be best suited to run the b13 distributor.

So do you think there is no difference between the SR20VE and the SR20DE distributors?

Im going to use an b15 dizzy on my ve. As far as I know, it should still work no problem.

Sent from my phone. Who cares what it is. They all do it now-a-days.

No difference and no problem. It is up to your preference and if anything, availability of replacement of wear parts.

B13 distributor needs a tab cut and be held with just one bolt. If you ever want to add a CDI (MSD,etc) B13 dist is the easiest way.

I'm pretty sure the B15 dizzy will work and we already know that either with the VE or DE will do the job. But Alex's doubt is... Is there any difference between them? Let's talk about Horse Power, is it gonna affect or improve something to use the VE or the DE distributor?

DE distributors on a VE have a tendency to leak oil sometimes since the DE distributor mounts needs to be modified to fit the VE.
