Thread: Shortage of SR20VE engines?

Is it just me or is there a shortage of quality SR20VE engines for sale? In looking now compared to a few months ago the engines now look beat and are covered in RTV for some reason. I'm about ready to pick one up but it's a bit discouraging from the pictures I've seen. DOes anyone have any good leads? I've contacted Nagano USA and am awaiting their reply as well as JDM Engine Zone.

I noticed the same thing,i've been trying to a get a ve from my local importers for about 4 weeks. And nothing, they keep telling me that in 2 weeks they'll get a new shipment.
There's a few importers in ebay that have ve in stock but the price is a bit higher that usual.

Cleaner motors have become harder to come by. Might be better off sourcing a VE head for sale, buying a bare VE block, and rebuild it.

It can be done in a weekend. All you need is basic tools, a FSM, and a torque wrench. Oh, assembly lube and silicone, lol.

Err you'd be surprised how many weekends I don't have because I'm busy

They will pull a premium.

I wonder if the Japan Tsunami is to blame.
