It has already been explained. The catch can is to clean the air going into the intake manifold, running it there would serve no purpose. It cleans the air, not the oil. I believe you have a catch can confused with an oil filter. IIRC the ve valve cover has the "catch can" built in as opposed to the external can you see on the engines of those of us with de's

This is why you're getting the answers you're getting

Yes i read through that article and it clearly states that it removes unburnt fuel that passes by the piston rings.

And i was just looking for an answer to my question, which would be no you can't. Even though i came across this picture in the thread you had linked.

That picture is for a de, which is similar but the stock catch can you see in that spot ia already built in to your ve valve cover. The adtermarket catch can you see there is going from the valve cover to the intake piping. The one you see on the line you are wanting to put it on is already there, you just cant see it, because like i said before it is built in to the ve valve cover.

yeah i saw the picture you are referring to, but the line going from the VC to the intake is directly connected to the internal catch can so technically it would be doing the same exact thing. As far as im aware, flowing oil doesn't travel through the line off the block to the valve cover.

Stock catch (On DE's) can is not a catch can at all. It's there to filter oily blow by.

That is exactly the purpose of a catch can...

Unless flowing oil is passing through that line, but mine had ripped completely off the VC last week and didn't notice it untill i was checking for a vacuum leak with the engine running and nothing but air was coming out of the line.

Just lost on this whole thread.
Like they said, the ve catch can is internal. And was lost on the whole intake part
