Look at 95b14 (tom) he trapped 107 and went 12.6 with a t25 on a STOCK lowport de . T25/t28 can be sorta usefull in the autox circut if boost is kept at minamum 7-8psi and a good set of r compound rubber . Remeber your using mostly 2-4 gears mainly due to course layout . And yes ve's would do good aswell but tq takes over exiting corners and straights .

Thank you. All that needed to be said.

Problem with autox is a lot of low rpm turns, unless you want to be in the first gear all of the time. Autox needs torque since there are a bunch of turns and your usually going under 60mph (in a parking lot at that).

One of my friends races his stock 09 Civic Si, and he has mentioned a few times having more low end torque would be beneficial. When I raced my log VE-T (no usable high cams) and a T3 turbo, it was too lagy thus it wasn't too great either. T25/T28 setup would be best from what I've seen.

Amen vadim !
Offtopic I remeber pshue was his name ? The guy had a well built autox b15 se with custom control arms to run 275 hoosiers but the problem is he went to big of a turbo gt30 iirc and it ruined his autox . I ran into him at the philly autox and he said his car would not reach it power band on the course .

There is no chance for the bolt on stock cam ve vs a t25. Cory's posts are proof, same car, same chassis and same track. There are a lot of misinformed people on the forum who don't have experience and just repeat what they hear. T25's will go deep into the 12's.... Good luck with a stock cam ve doing that. /end thread!

I'm prejudiced because I have a W11 but I don't consider the high port head to be a poorly flowing head. Since this is armchair racing I will put in my .02 worth without fear of flaming..

A high port head may not be in the same class as SR20VE 20V or the factory hand ported N1 but I don't think it gives up anything to the SR20VE head.

VE heads got high HP output luv from the factory. High port heads need S4 cams, headers and a decent intake manifold(like an O2) to reach their potential.

Rather than T25 vs VE, I'd be interested in seeing dyno results on a SR20VE vs DE high port that had the above mods, plus 10.4:1 compression (same as the 20VE) and 4 counterweight crank.

This would be a more of an apples to apples comparison.

In the real world why spend money on cams, intake, etc when a VE head is so cheap and available.

Uhhh, the highport head is a travesty. Just so you know.

pretty much, jdm de at least for me is 475 shipped, throw in s4 cams $400 used, pullies $150 used, Right there your already over the price of a VE shipped and the VE will make more power than a bolt on DE with s4's

The ve is soo cost effiecient that there is no reason to really play with the DE anymore unless its boosted. The fact that a bolt on VE can almost keep up with a Turbo DE says in itself the difference.

The highport head was basicly designed to give a good torque graph and thats about it. If flows nowhere near the VE though.
