Your right those stupid piston speeds with the 100+ cranks really wear a motor out but there is no problem building a 10sec motor with the oe 99mm crank. The guys in the 106mm stroke are doing like 400whp!

yeah 87mm on stock sleeve, stock crank and they are putting out 330whp with itbs and the right cams. 12:5:1 compression, you cant beat that.

basic simple set ups.

It seems simple but idk man. A couple kids I know have built 2.4 - 2.6L K's. The big 2.6 K made 318whp. Had 14.7:1 CR, worked head, drag cartel 4's, IPS bottom mount IM with 4" intake out bumper, 90mm TB, custom ASP race header, race fuel, etc, etc, etc, lol. He was a little disappointed. Tuned by Yosolo.

One of the K24' with 12.5:1 CR with all supporting mods made 26Xwhp. The other K24 made 300whp on 13:1 on E85. These kids dumped a very nice amount. I am not knocking you guys but I don't want anyone else thinking it can be done for cheap. My 2.3 build will be less than half of what my boy spent on his bored 24 motor. In his integra, I figure I would give him a good fuckin run. Now in another chassis, I may need a 50 shot. Lol.

Yeah the k's still have a lot of problems especially with the stroker kits. Seems like the 2.6's love to blow up quite often. I can recall how many races I saw last year in the all motor class where k's blew the hell up. Maybe got one or two low 10 second passes and then blew up. They are still reving those 2.6's and 2.7's to freakin 10.5k or higher. Rediculous. They just have insane cam options that will make power all the way out that high is the only reason and the extensive headwork done to them.

But like our 2.4's you start really getting into it, reliability goes out the window. Thats why I think a nice stock stroke 2.3L high comp VE would be pretty reliable and outrun most k's out there. Not including the extensively built ones. It should run with the majority of the 2.4's though. Those 2.4's making over 300whp have a pretty extensive amount of work done. Hell their kinsler itb's alone are over 3k bucks.

K's have other issues too like eating valvetrain, dropping valves, and so on. So dont think they are super reliable. They have their issues just like the VE's but all in all they are a better motor with way more potential.

Just like Norris after he went 9.96 and then went 9.97 and tried to do another run but hurth the motor, I believe was some rockers that he shattered. Nothing too major but still. And that was a brand new fresh motor. Just those couple passes on it. These guys really push those motors to an extreme limit.

Exactly. Its cool that they can be that quick. At the end of the day, I'll take a more reliable 11 second car than a 10 second car that will last a couple of runs, lol. My boy regrets spending all that cash on a race fuel setup. He has plans to do another basic k24 build on pump. Should be interesting how my build stacks up with it this spring.

Yeah simple K25 builds seem like they would do alright keeping the stock stroke but you start pushing over 104mm strokes on them they just dont seem to survive more than about 10 good passes on a motor and thats a lot of money to dump for 10 passes.

exactly, i totally agree.

when i do a k it will be one mm over to 87mm, 12:5:1 piston, kelford cam, big head work, asp header, kinsler itbs and call it a day 300whp + all day long.

very simple reliable set up. good for 11s all day.

not saying a sr24ve cant do it, it has. ill build another sr24 agian. well i wont, this time ill have some one who knows how to actually do it this time, instead of....

all motor is were its at. dont matter if its a nissan all motor or honda all motor im a fan. shit id love a built sohc making 200whp in a crx.

They are not all time bombs. There are 350whp ks that last a couple seasons.....
