Brian's SR20VE Rebuild
Greetings fellow SR20 owners. Here in this thread (slowly but surely) i will be posting pictures and the assembly of my SR20VE.
This is my first time assembling and gathering parts for my own engine.

Please be aware that this is a budget build and my goal is to have 190hp+ N/A reliable engine.

To All that will view and follow me on this thread.. support, ideas of improvement and all comments will be greatly appreciated. Any one with questions i will be glad to answer i'm not a guru with this sort of task like many other members that are more experienced than me. But i sure do have common sense and eager to learn and share what ever i know.

Ok here we go I've had my rebuilt cylinder head for a while now just sitting in my closet this head was done by Evolution Racing Engines in Amityville, NY By Gino and his crew "thanks guys"!!

Here are some shots of their work. Nothing special just rebuilt to oem specs after they found 6 bent ex valves

Once i get my hands on some springs and retainers (for peace of mind) i will post Pictures of that but until then i will gather some pics of the bottom end and the condition that its in.

this is kinda scary now that i realize they had told me that they couldn't get their hands on the ex valves any where but then they called me saying that they found ones that fit and worked and these 6 new or used but good (what ever they are) valves say 6R on them i just hope the magic Bunny is a nice fluffy one and not the chupacabra

gino might have had some laying around, i know he has done a few sr20ves.

is the bottom end done yet ?

if not have you come up with a game plan.

ive done a few sr20 motors. this time im doing a very simple one n/a one, similiar to yours.

two important things are tunning and the header, these make the biggest hp gains on these motors.

the bottom end has not even been touched yet im gathering up some funds for the following things..

Sr16 pistons notched and wpc treatment new
ring set

balancing the bottom end (checking my crank out to see if its still BUENO after the hell i put it thru)

honing of cylinders (gonna keep it stock bore)

all new standard size acl bearings (five hole?) debating on getting them coated as well

service to my oil pump to see if its still in good condition

this way i can clean up the block and torque everything in with some good "Ol" Loctite

i have a cut flange and finding a big tube tri y b18 header was my next step
and im really interested in this nismotronic deal going on just gotta find some one who i can let tune this puppy for me

will the top of the sr16 pistons come in to contact with the valves or combustion chamber?? with N1 cams?? if so i might need to shave them im a noob lol

skip the coating, imho its not neccessary at all. especially at the power level you will be seeing.

16ve pistons will be fine with ptv clearance with n1s. even with bigger cams youll be fine.

the compression will be high 13:1 iirc maybe a bit higher.

so with that being said youll need a managment wich can control fuel.
