iirc you can use a lowport DE oil filter.

I got mine for a 97 SE-R and it fit.

more specifically a B14 DE oil filter (short filter). The P10 lowport's used the older style taller filter.

Okay well the ve oil filter thats on isnt so short. Its normal. But idk if the passage holes are the same. I havent checked. So should i just get a DE filter? And is royal purple 5w-30 fine? i already bought 4 quarts

It's because the older filters where longer, and hit the power steering pump.
Just go with a B14 DE filter.

Yes please go with a B14 filter, you don't want to find out the hard way if you slap a 53J (high-port) filter on there. Besides if you're running a B14 OEM powersteering hose then more than likely it's going to be right up against the filter. Makes for changing the filter a pain. Might want to try bend it a little and get it out of the way. I have the VE hose on my P10 and love it, oil changes are a breeze....on my B14...not so much. :o
