It doesnt have to currently have a VE tune on it.
As long as its a calum ecu, it will have the chips that you remove and reprogram.
The link I provided for I burn EPROM chips, is a forum member who will reprogram the chips with the proper tune for you, thats who I sent mine to.

This is my current Calum Basic
You can see the chips above (owner labeled VE/VE) you remove those and they can be reprogrammed for anything you want.

BTW a Real time calum ecu is better/will cost you more.
Real time ECU lets you hook up to a laptop and change the tune, slightly, while the car is RUNNING.
With a Calum Basic you have to turn the car OFF and physically remove the chips then reprogram with any changes.
