For that price you can get a NEMU Real Time ecu. Not worth it.
You can find calum basic ECUs for sale on here all the time and they go for ~$200.
Thats what I have for my VE.

Okay the calum ECU whats calum? and is it programmed for the VE already?

thanks that is the write up i was looking for. Man he does it step by step hahaha i just need to know what i need to interchange. Idk what he means about "MSD rpm triggers" Oh also, will i have to take off my cruise control?

Calum ECU is a programmable ECU. Its basically a daughter board. It has chips that remove and you can change the tune on those. Reinstall and there you go. It can be programmed for many things(different injectors, different maf, etc.)



If you want to keep your cruise control, easiest way is to swap the throttle body for a lowport one. Or you can get creative with the cables and make a custom bracket to continue using the VE throttle body. You'll see, when you get your engine, how the little wheel is different.

As for the MSD RPM triggers. Most ECUs are NOT able to activate the VVL solenoids, so you need an external controller in order to do so.
A lot of people use the MSD 8986(or something like that) to activate the solenoids once you reach a certain RPM. This MSD is no longer made though. So you'll have to find something that can activate the solenoids.

Personally I'm going to be using the Grantelli dual window switch

So the Calum ECU DOESNT activate the sylinoids? And the Grantelli dual window switch, what else do i need to make this work?

NO ECU we have can activate them.

With MAYBE the exception of the NEMU RT(as far as I know, it was still being tested and wasn't proven)

That is all you should need if you want to run the VE.

Don't use VVL until you have the proper ECU.

Yes. That way you dont have to swap out injectors, just get it programmed for the VE with whatever MAF youll use. That way youll have the proper VE fuel map, etc.
