soft cam switch(VVL)
Hi guy im from RSA

Just gor my car tuned and it feels great just want to know if there is a problem with my switch over point i cant really hear it but from 4500rpm onwards it really moves till rev limiter 7300(power starts dropping).
car making 155kw and 238nM dont no the hp readings.

Help i wanna hear my cams switching??????

i think this came up before. You cant really here the stock cams.

Where you from in ZA? you should speak to Derm in JHB

I'm from Worcester near Cape Town. Jason from RBT tuned my car there is no problem just wanna know why you cant hear the switching but a friend of mine who has a dicktator you can hear his cams switching> Is it because his cams switches later than mine or what?

There was a discussion about it. General consensus was that the stock cams you cant really hear the switch over point.

What are you running for exhaust and intake?

i still have stocks cmas but I can hear the the intake switch and the exhaust scream....what intake, headers and exhaust ur running?

You can hear it if you switch the cams together, but stock ECU doesn't do that. Nissan wanted to make the powerband and noise to be seamless.

Also do check the solenoids, attach power and ground to one and listen to it activate, it should click.

i do believe it has to do with the exhaust set up that u have there... i use to hear mine all the time but my friend rcently install his and his motor just pulls... no vvl engagement sound.... car is VERY quite and is a 3" straight thru...

3" Exhaust to bored out 3" STI muffler, SSAC header that is wrapped. I definitely hear it, but I don't hear my exhaust (due to STI muffler) ever only the intake.

tx guys im still running my SR20DE header ported + 57mm(2.25") xhorst, short ram induction and perfect power SMT8 to do the rest(fueling timing cam switching). On my 57mm(2.25") xhorst i really have large boxes so this could be the problem>

Treat yourself out and buy some N1 cams, they are worth every penny.

Here is a member selling a set in the N/A section for a good price.
