yep anymore shaved off the case and you increasing the chances of the casing cracking, i personally wouldnt recommend it, better off doing a group buy on a gear set from PAR as it would greatly outway the benefits of a 5.0fd. for example:

less rev drop between gears so you stay within the power band
1st gear could be made longer to give more traction off the line whereas with the 5.0 it will be useless and you'll still have the big rev drop into 2nd
you wont have to shave the casing reducing the chances of casing failure.
you can keep a long 5th for motorway driving
only problem is the price difference

Sure, price difference is what makes FD changes interesting. For maximum effect, you have to have all custom gears....

People are too cheap. The thought is an sr16 trans is the all motor solution.
