Thread: 5.0 Final Drive interest

Bump for shorter gears.

im down for this jamie sign me up right now....i need this i wanna eat boosted cars with out being scared at the hole...the best way to put our nissans on the map is ALLMOTOR!!!! anything is fast turbo or nitrous....

I am ignorant, and have never much understood gear ratios. Right over my big thick skull. However, I do love GB's.

What is the end-result benefit to the consumer? Each gear becomes shorter, so this would be good for vehicles that are drag racing?

I would *think* this is not appropriate, perhaps even counterproductive, for a daily driver. (?) I've never been in a drag race in my life. I did DJ for quite a few drag shows, but I digress.....

Yea you really don't want a 5.0 fd for a daily. I guess it would be alright around town but on the highway your revs would be real high. But, im sure theres someone out there that does it anyway

I believe Cory said his revs are around 3800 @ 70mph with the 4.785 final. I am not too worried about the revs. I figure with the 5.0 final, the revs will be around 4K or so doing 70mph. Also depends on the tire size.

I never really liked the stock trans all motor. Especially 3rd gear. Granted I would pull away from a lot of others but I could only imagine how fast the car would run through the gears with this final.

Is 5.0 FD largest FD that would fit stock trans case?

Put down Kush on the list. I'm gonna force him to get this final drive.

the case will need modified to fit the 5.0, as the 4.78 is already touching the case
