Thread: dropped a valve in 3 diff motors what am i doing wrong PLEASE HELP

are you installing the valve springs properly? thats the only thing similar with all your motors except the last one

Do 1 step at a time so you can pinpoint the problem too much going on at one time.


the motor i bought it was cranked up with sr20ve cams stock motor and it ran fine after a lil while about a week of runnin g it we decided to try the n1 cams and we realize we must be doing something wring cuz it keeps doing the same things

and yes i am intalling the springs correctly with the coil bind closest to the head and the keepers the oposite of the roker

did you check the valve clearance on any of the motors? just cause they are nissan N1s you cant ncessarily assume they are drop in, maybe they are on the outer limit of the manufacturing tolerance which means your valve clearane is a too tight hence the dropped valves?


do you have the valve clearance spec available to compare mines??

after three engines i would think you would just pay someone who knows better to do it

Measure those cams something is off with them.

Huh? Sense make no. I'd put money on that the keepers aren't in right if you drop a valve everytime after light running.

one motor was oem never messed with the head and still did the same thingh they all dropped a valve in idle

no1 is understanding they the motor dropped a valve in idle and after 20 min of beign turned on with no prior issues

its ok the block and heads are good thats why i keep tryin and am still parting parting out my donor motor and my built motor am messing now with the motor i bought trust me am making my money back selling it in parts my real concern is why is this happening am gonna have to measure each lobe and get an accurate measurement for each

Bimboser Did you check to make sure the throttle body screw didn't fly into the motor of the one you didn't mess with?
