So if you take a bone stock VE, remove the head, open, drop the sump and change out the rods, then bolt everything back together with a 20v headgasket you'd be able to boost around 15psi safely?

if you put det pistons in im sure you could.. dont think swappin rods would do any good.

I always figures the stock rods are the weakest link on a VE+T setup.

So thinking with some good rods and perhaps a thicker gasket you'd have a pretty low cost, hich reliability daily turbo build.

its the 10.3:1 compression that really limits you on boost without using race gas, i believe the det/de/ve rods are the same but thats just what i've read off here.

if you put in lower compression pistons you can run more boost without the detonation problems

The DE and VE rods are the same, but the DET rods are much stronger.

you must be talking about the gti-r rods because those are the ones that are bigger.

Nope I've run DET rods before and they are much beefier than the DE and VE rods. The gti-r rods are beefier than the DET rods.

ok well thats cool, might as well use the pistons also tho.
