keep the progress up mikael !

stratton.

Thanks

It's starting to look promising. Got most of the engine parts ready. Not sure if I'll put the engine into a shell this year.

Had an accident at work a couple of weeks ago that made me think about going to uni this fall.

I did some research on valve sizing after Mazworx pointed this out to me.

Basically, what it comes down to is quite surprising. From what I'v gathered so far, valve ratio should actually increase the more duration/overlap and compression you run. A stock engine could run 90% while a highly tuned engine could see exhaust valve sizes of 80% or less. Keep in mind we are talking about valve diameter, and not surface area, the difference gets even bigger if you calculate valve area (about 80% for standard engines and 65% for a high compression "race" engine).

Take the DE and compare it to the VE:

DE in 34mm ex 30mm ratio 88.2% (surface 77.7%)
VE in 34mm ex 29 mm ratio 85.2% (surface 73.3%)

This setup

in 35.5mm ex 29mm ratio 81.7% (surface 66.6%)

Only thing I think is weird is a polished finish on the intake port. Usually you want a somewhat rough finish...

It's definitely smoother than stock finish. I don't know how big of an impact this has. Perhaps Mazworx could chime inn on this?
