i dont think its as big of a deal on older style gaskets, but the metal ones really like to have a perfect surface.

Whatever I've had my head on and off like 5 times... I really don't think unless your messing up the surface why you'd need to machine it every time... I really call that Excessive.

isnt the o e m 20v the head gasket metal? didn't know that was an old style.

Lets say we have a flawless surface and we install the head then take if off. Why wouldn't that surface be good. I've found that to work just fine. Idk maybe I'm just dumb lol.

ok well maybe with the gaskets your using theres no material left over on the head/block but when using normal gaskets they leave crap on there.

yes I know normal hg does but nowhere did I mention that was the case so dont know why you talking about that its common sense too you know.

anything and everything is knowledge to me at this point.

I just thought about something, what about the oil pump? What oil pump are you using and was it resurfaced on the block when the block was done? I remember this being a big discussion in a Mazworx thread. Not sure if they still charge this fee, but I think it was a 100 charge to surface match the oil pump with the block, but it only takes a few bolts to put it on and that charge doesn't seem valid.

Haha im not that silly to not have that done so yes the ve pump I used was deck with the block.
