Yeah, If you have a good machine shop they will usually get the valve height back to the original factory height if installing aftermarket valves, in a DE its not quite as important as the VE to get it as close as possible. If not then reshimming is always required.
But if your doing a seat cleanup w/ stock valves or adjusting valve grind angles and so on all of which require grinding of the seats and removing material. So almost always your going to have a higher valve height than factory and this will lead to too tight of clearances on the cams and again shimming definitely required.
Maybe later down the road we will get a set of aftermarket rocker arms like those found in the f20 and k20 motor with independant arms and capability to adjust valve lash. Hell even a set with just the ability to adjust valve lash would be nice and make things much easier. One part that nissan failed on with the VE motors, lol.
